Market: Junior Mining/Tantalum

Prediction: In a report issued by Fundamental Research in 2004, Michael Casserly gave a BUY rating to Commerce Resources, Inc. (TSX-V: CCE), a tantalum mining company. Tantalum is a high performance metal used in primarily in reliable, compact capacitors, which are crucial to the high tech industry. Casserly cited low costs of production for CCE, an anticipated increase in the demand for Tantalum, and a real-options based valuation showing undervalued shares as reasons for the BUY rating. At the time, CCE traded at $0.14 per share.

Commerce Resources Corp. (TSX.V:CCE) – Highlights from Site Visit and Market Update

Market: Biotechnology

Prediction: In a report issued by Fundamental Research in 2004, Brian Tang gave a BUY rating to Resverlogix Corp. (TSX-V: RVX), a biotech company focused on treating cardiovascular disease by raising 'good' cholesterol. Tang cited RVX's strong management team and scientific advisory board, high fair value estimates (DCF, options-based, and comparable), and lack of direct competition in using 'good' cholesterol to improve cardiovascular function as reasons for the rating. At the time, RVX traded at $1.84 per share.

Outcome: Currently, RVX is trading at $13.23 per share, a 719% increase over its value when Tang issued the BUY rating.
